Pleasant
Hill, CA – Diablo Valley College Art Gallery presents a treasure trove of fine
art, once hidden within archival depths, which has surfaced for this special
group exhibition. Over 40 prints, paintings, and drawings by influential
artists such as Goya and Chagall, along with those by lesser known artists,
will be featured. The works have been carefully hand-selected and compellingly
arranged, enhancing the experience of each individual piece. Each wall of
selected art provides a window of interpretation, synthesizing a variety of
works into story-like vignettes, which express humor, unifies the subject
matter, or simply provides pleasing aesthetic symmetry. A variety of design
styles, such as Art Deco, Modern and Abstract are represented.
About the
Curators: This exhibition is organized by the students of Diablo Valley College’s
ART135, Art Gallery Museum Management class, instructed by Professors Leo
Bersamina, Kris Koblik and Dean Michael Almaguer.
Special
thanks to Professor Arthur King, Gallery Coordinator, for his help in the
restoration process.
